I was going to commend your efforts towards influencing some expression of sanity in this victory, but warn you that the UPZONE is by far the most critical battle in your fight to save Ketchum from total annihilation. Three days later (V2N34: Why Ketchum's Comp Plan is So Bad) it became obvious you clearly understood.
I have been very busy in the yard and garden then emptying every available chamber of ammunition in my arsenal against the BBB which I knew the fascist MAGA Republican Monolith would pass, "a person's sense of morality lessens as his or her power increases," but still hanging on to a shred of hope, because:
Without emotions we are empty.
Without passion we are cold.
Without love we are alone.
Without hope we are lost, forever.
The local MAGA (Malignant Asinine Growth Agenda) is also aggressively driven by insatiable greed, in our fair valley the real estate and resort handmaidens of the fascist oligarchs, neither of whom give a rat's rear end about seeing this place destroyed for money, having it ALL never enough, just as long as they get their pound of flesh from the community.
Massive brick and mortar banks on real estate some suggested was more expensive per sq. ft. than downtown Manhattan at a time when banking and investment was clearly transitioning almost entirely to digital platforms.
Then massive hotels built and proposed at a time when tourist accommodations were clearly transitioning to Airbnb and vrbo STRs, their ad campaigns basically asking "why stay in a hotel, whadya' stupid?!"
Now we are seeing these affordable housing boondoggles just to create the Disneyland illusion that Ketchum is inhabited during slack. A pathetic attempted deceit in a resort community with feckless leadership exploiting Covid to aggressively promote a local MAGA (Malignant Asinine Growth Agenda) resulting in the hollowing of that community through toxic gentrification. All in a failing effort to portray Ketchum as somehow vibrant in the off-season.
If you define "vibrant" strictly in terms of energy without any defining attributes such as "good or "bad," Ketchum certainly appears to be vibrant now with people attacking those working on the roads. The attack on these workers a perfect metaphor for the BBB. Destroy the lives and health care of Working Americans to provide huge tax cuts on the unearned wealth and income of the billionaire class and economic aristocracy.
Perry, better have 200 people at City Hall with signs expressing their objections to this UPZONE an hour before any upcoming meetings. This UPZONE clearly represents the final nail in Ketchum's coffin.
Even more unfortunate than this hideous destiny for Ketchum, is that the CDD Nina Jonas ran out of town landed in Hailey to aggressively infect our community with this local MAGA (Malignant Asinine Growth Agenda) disease, Hailey having only a small fraction of Ketchum's LOT revenues as the associated MASSIVE FUTURE UNFUNDED LIABILITIES chickens will soon be coming home to roost.
Failed leadership provided de facto waivers of impact fees for three large high-end residential developments In East Hailey. Another perfect metaphor for the BBB as working taxpayers operating closer to the edge with many of them struggling under a cloud of financial uncertainty are now responsible for providing massive subsidies to wealthy developers for the infrastructure upgrades and increase in safety resources their projects will be demanding.
But never mind the greedy fascist ideology promoting the aggressive upward redistribution of wealth, just focus on the racist and xenophobic nationalist ideology of American Fascism and get the ICE "gazpacho" after them brown people who do everything around here! "No soup for you!"
Some great "Suggestions to Reclaim Ketchum For Its Residents," but the most immediate and critical objective is to STOP this UPZONE as Perry urges or else the rest becomes entirely irrelevant, the systematic hollowing to accommodate industrial tourism will be complete, Perry's war on stupid to preserve the character of Ketchum lost. I have a question that keeps coming to mind….. couldn’t the Shernthanners deed restrict their property as open space ,single family , duplex or whatever they would want to see if and when their property goes on to a new owner?
