Perry How can non-Ketchum residents properly influence this vote? Blaine County residents (not regulated as members of Ketchum, Bellevue or Hailey) are still subject to collateral damage owing to previous Ketchum decisions: i.e. funding Sun Valley enterprise infrastructure, non-ketchum citizen housing, parking, density, the legal concept of "taking" our rights to quiet enjoyment due to mega-traffic throughput......

Tom, we do have a rather odd political situation. Your best bet is to help the people who will listen to you get elected. That’s with donations and getting your Ketchum resident friends to go to the polls. All too many people choose note to vote. In a small town every vote counts. I lost last time by only 50 votes. This is probably going to be my last election, so if I lose this time I don’t know who has the governance experience to get Ketchum on track with a good process or counterbalance the council members with conflicts of interest. One of the challenges we have is that taxpayer funded organizations work hard to influence the election. For example, Viait Sun Valley, funded by taxpayers, has an employee running for council. I think that’s an irreconcilable conflict of interest, but apparently it’s legal. We get the government we let them do to us.

I agree. I live 1 neighborhood outside the city limits and thus cannot vote on things related to my town. It's not right.

Good on ya Perry. Well said. A minor detail: please note what looks to be a typo in a key sentence, viz. ..."This means that the information does reach the public, and there is no discussion or public comment."... should read (?) ..."This means that the information does NOT reach the public, and..." (or possibly the information reaches the public "BUT" there is no discussion. Details matter, as you well know. All the best with your quest for a seat at the table! It would be well-earned.

"How is it possible that we live in a town where our City Council has pitted itself against the residents to destroy the community? It’s madness."

The same way (madness!) it is possible to live in a country where the Executive Branch has pitted itself and the military against citizens to destroy the country...

...GREED ON STEROIDS!!!

Dear Mr. Hughes, please get your facts correct. The citizens of The United States of America 🇺🇸 are being protected by men and women risking there lives each day for our safety from an invasion upon our land. Open your eyes and POW. God Bless you Mr. Hughes🙏🙌☘️

Joe, my Father was a highly decorated career officer in the U.S. Army. You have the facts wrong as there is no invasion upon our land other than that of ICE agents and military resources being inappropriately deployed in blue states and cities resisting through peaceful protest this attempted fascist authoritarian takeover of our country as a distraction from the documented involvement of the much more likely than not pedophile president in the Epstein Files. It has already been confirmed that not only "dirty donnie" but members of his administration are criminally implicated and will more likely than not be indicted when the Epstein Files are released. Why toady sycophant Mike Johnson is using every means necesssary to delay, delay, delay accountability, the established pattern of serial felony criminal "dirty donnie."

As the paranoid delusional performance clearly revealed in the recent reality TV production for an audience of the Nation's highest military leaders by "dirty donnie" and pathetic FOX pretender Pete Hegseth, the walls are rapidly closing in on these incompetent psychologically damaged human beings pretending to be leaders. "WE THE PEOPLE ARE THOSE WALLS!" Even the MAGA base is now having difficulty taking these "losers" seriously as the polling clearly reveals.

But keep watching FOX NEWS so you can digest all the LIES they promote that feed your alternative fascist MAGA universe, but please keep GOD out of it. She wants no part of this evil attempt to destroy our democracy.

Back on topic. Ketchum residents are so fortunate that when they all stuck their heads in the sand during Covid which allowed an authoritarian takeover of their city, that PB cared enough to make the distinction between right and wrong and devote his considerable and relentless administrative talents to waking you all up and rescuing you from the malignant growth agenda of greedy real estate development interests destroying the character and future of the community.

These greedy authoritarian forces on the right at every level of government want you all to believe their retrograde Twelfth Century social and political paradigm is inevitable and demand you submit. They are already done, just too stupid to realize it. RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, loudly but peacefully. The WILL OF THE PEOPLE, not the fascist oligarchs, will prevail.

Would the visit sun valley employee with questionable 🤔 interest be a 28 year old named Kendall Kirkpatrick 🤔. If so, I agree! This is how it works from the shade in the valley. Good Luck Perry. May God Bless You 🙏🙌🫡

Is there any way business owners in Ketchum who are not residents can have some “say” in Ketchum politics?

Not with a vote. But there are a couple of ways. Participate in KBAC. They host a meeting that is a “must attend” for connecting the business community to city hall. It is critical to support candidates that understand how a business works. Donate to them and get your Ketchum resident friends to vote for them. All too many don’t bother to vote and so we get…well you know what we got the last two times. If you advertise in the Mountain Express, tell Pam Morris to do a better job covering city hall. Fortunately she has some competition now with the 5B Gazette that does more in depth work. Go to the public meetings. The calendar is up at KetchumIdaho.org. Anyone can speak (if the mayor permits public comment—right now he controls that). Volunteer to serve on KURA. I’m the next council we can make that a much more impactful and much less ideological body. Finally, you can always take out an ad in the Mt Express like someotjrrs have and air your concerns. We get the government we let them do to us!
