DELAY DELAY DELAY. Get the community to set up a Go Fund ME to pay and hire a kick ass attorney to represent the community with a lawsuit that opposes the proposed Comprehensive Plan. An attorney who can continue to keep the lawsuit going thru constant DELAY DELAY DELAY until new elections rid us of Bradshaw and his favored council woman and developers.

I already expended a decent chunk of my change on an attorney to bring out the lies around Bluebird, but that clearly didn't work. I am all for what you suggest, but I don't have the time or money to lead that charge. Maybe KBAC could do it?

I agree with all , and Mary Rolland is correct-there has been an impossible level of hypocrisy shown to us—- residents, and LONG- time residents I might add. Abd an Atty might get their attention,,,,Brenda Norton

I like your thinking, Mary! We need to outsmart these idiots.

I wish I had a better answer. Wrote letters to the newspaper? Meet with Bradshaw Breen Hamilton? Their response to you that council meetings are sparsely attended is specious—in contrast to other cities, this Mayoir won’t allow members of the public to address the council unless it is legally required. BCHA has followed his lead.

I agree with Julie that people need to be making comments on the comp plan. The more the better!

Do look at the Comp plan. Insert your opinion where it seems appropriate.

We would like to collect in lieu parking fees again.

We would like to have clearer guide lines about building materials and design.

We want to restrict height in the downtown core. (3 Stories)

We want to keep public parking in the area that is currently public parking.

We want to encourage local entrepreneurship, not chain stores.

We do not want short term visitors making long term decisions for us.

Do put your energy behind electable candidates for the 2025 elections.

Do not give up hope about the power of the people.

Stay unified and get involved with your local politics.

Ask a KBAC member what action to take.

Talk to the council members, mayor and P&Z members.

Thanks for listening.

Well said!

Well said, Julie! KBAC is hosting a comp plan subcommittee meeting on Friday, Jan. 3rd at 1:30pm at Nourish Me. We'll be covering the topics Julie has listed here and working on a plan to comment in a unified way. We'll most likely hold other comp plan focused meetings between now and January 17th..... Please come if you're available/interested, and please, please, please, make comments on the online comp plan. Community feedback is vital to this process. 2025 is the year to re-set, re-focus, re-invest, and re-comment to what makes Ketchum....Ketchum.

Julie, I am now slogging through the comp plan and inserting comments as I go. Thank you for these suggestions.

Thank you to reading and commenting on the comp plan, Annie! Public participation is vital in this process.

I spent the 70s in Aspen I watched it change it breaks my heart to see what is being done

here. The feel of community and family have changed significantly over the past few years as I watch the architecture change its breaks my heart. I wonder where did Ketchum go when I drive thru town.

G Wolf: I completely share your sentiments. It is SO SAD. I just went into the general comment section of the comp plan, and wrote that they need to STOP THE BUILDING, and start preserving and investing what's left of the small town character of Ketchum.

@Wolf - Ketchum went F.A.R. - then took our attys with it. Shame, Shame, Shame.

Perry I agree with everything you wrote. I have barely gotten thru 50 of the 151 Comp Plan Draft. Yes it is very confusing to even post a comment. No wonder why people get frustrated and give up! The KABC is doing a great job , like Julie said don’t give up hope !

I agree. It’s misleading. The comment process is deliberately obscure and awkward . Seems very intentional

Waiting for the election next year gives away another year for granting permits and cementing the destruction of Ketchum...

Perry - I am starting to slog through the comp plan, and am only on page 13. Just saw your question/comment about the "Community Vision". And I've got to say: RIGHT ON. THANK YOU for capturing it:

"How do we define success for each of these goals?

For example, what does "world-class character" mean? What does "small-town feel" mean? These are competing objectives that drive the debates we are having right now. Can we build consensus around them as part of the comp plan process?

We have a goal like "excellent jobs" but the Council approves tourism development that provides only low-paying cyclical and seasonal jobs that require taxpayer-funded housing for the workers--how is that consisent with the plan? When the Council deviates from the plan, how is that made transparent to the community?

When we have a goal of "excellent healthcare," how is that consistent with lack of mental health care, the need to be lifeflighted out of our hospital, the lack of most specialty care, etc? I have never seen a City Council agenda that discussed health care. Will that change with this plan?

How do we define a "dynamic economy"? Is a boom-bust economy built on a taxpayer-subsidized tourism industry dynamic? Again, I have never heard any economic discussion at a council meeting that wasn't about the tourism industry.

Perry and everyone here: My wonder lately is whether the people concerned about Ketchum know WHERE to go to voice concerns? I fear there might be people who feel similarly but don't know the proper channels/platforms. Meaning: Are all the voices being heard? And are the concerned voices consolidated? If you were to poll people around town, are there folks who aren't happy about the direction things have headed, but are too busy with their lives and/or just don't know where to go or how to help? I fear that Bradshaw/Hamilton/Breen aren't hearing enough dissent to take things seriously. (They've mentioned to me in emails that city council meetings are sparsely attended. ).

Hi Annie...it can be overwhelming, can't it? And the City is rushing several huge projects through these first few months of the year. The Comp Plan, LID discussions, Washington Street, the bike/ped master plan, just to name a few! The KBAC website has some suggestions on how to take action: ketchumbusiness.org. This blog is also a great starting point. And, like Julie mentioned above, talking to a KBAC member (found on our website) is a good way to start the conversation. It's hard for one person to tackle everything that's coming our way, which is why it's so incredible we have this team of community working together to impact change. For people new to this process, pick one issue you're really passionate about (parking, housing, building height, etc) learn where the City is on it, follow it through the process, and comment, comment, comment.
