Before you can talk about families, who's going to employ them, what job opportunities are there that will support a mortgage? This is a problem through out the valley, the cost of housing, as in single family residents, is going for over a million. There's no future here, everything is to expensive. I think things are headed for collapse as finally growth is unsustainable.

You have anticipated next week’s issue! We need more businesses other than low wage tourism jobs. The Troiks is doing nothing but double down on tourism.

The, "we need thing", as if there is a socially engineered solution, wave some kind of wan and change the whole dynamic reality here. For decades, Ketchum has employed consultants, they say you've got to diversify, that's been 30 years ago. If the valley could it would and it didn't and it isn't going to. Supporting the resort, skiing world, is Ketchum/SunValley, it is the main game, plus the new influx of very wealthy people. Wealthy people are great, they don't need jobs, they have housing, they spend a lot and pay well, only problem is they drive the cost of everything up. What ends up is mountain Beverly Hill, remind you of any where?

I think one of the reasons that Ketchum has not worked to diversify is because the entire political machine is hell bent on doubling down on Tourism. There is literally zero support from the Troika for any diversification. Diversification doesn't require consultants. It requires leadership. We have lacked that leadership for quite some time.

Perry, your missing the realities of 70 plus years as a SKI,RESORT town. Of course it's about tourism/skiing, what planet are you lining on? Breaking down everything to some kind of political malicious intent, isn't cutting it, because that's not the cause. Sun Valley which includes Ketchum, is still an internationally known, up scale luxury ski resort, which is hard to get to. Really, we should be so lucky.

Not sure if you have been going to Ketchum Council meetings. One former council member said he had no interest in higher-wage jobs in Ketchum. We have lots of businesses trying to make it here, from First Light to Wild Rye to Decked. None of them get the same taxpayer subsidies provided to the tourism industries, especially those provided to SVC.

Trail Creek Road is still closed and in my 13 years never seen it open so late? I heard they won’t open it until May 31, which says a lot about Blaine County’s priorities. Why?

What do the commissioners say about this when you ask them?

I question the sincerity of Blaine County who is run by the rich, when Blaine County has now plan to open Trail Creek Road! This offers another access point into the valley, close affordable housing, and expands recreation! My word is that Custer County applied and received a Federal grant to pave the east side of Trail Creek, to the summit but put the project on hold as Blaine County is not interested in the project? Let’s tell the truth…the rich don’t want workers or tourists in their community and the 75 road project is a wet bandage as traffic will choke up the hill at the Lime light, and down valley through Hailey and Bellevue. We are being Gaslighted by the rich? Mike Hickerson, Mackay

Ketchum has a "low-income", "workforce".

That's by design. One former Ketchum City Council Member stated he didn't want higher paying jobs in Ketchum. I kid you not.
